Why sound check can make or break any performance
Updated: Dec 28, 2020
This title comes with the wekbsite so lets run with it. We rarely get a soundcheck, however we always get a line check, this can be done visually by the man on the desk, if the desk has light displays. Then each instrument and vocal can be to some extent visually balanced, the size of the room, the miking and natural volume of loud things like drums, saxophones and amplifiers can be factored in, as well as knowing that trumpets are very loud already and the high pitch of a well played violin can cut through. If people in the audience want to hear a better sound they should be nearer to the band anyway, if they locate themselves in the corner of the room or at the back, in a small /medium size venue they re not going to hear the best.
